WWF-New Zealand is working in partnership with local communities, councils and the Department of Conservations (DOC) to halt and reverse the threats to New Zealand’s biodiversity and special places.
We believe that community conservation action is key to restoring New Zealand’s biodiversity so we are working to increase the scale and effectiveness of the community conservation sector. This will in turn result in greater protection and more restoration of threatened habitats and species across New Zealand.
We do this by:
- Providing Community Funding
- Offering a range of resources to help support community-led conservation groups. We can offer expert advice and assist local groups to help them become more effective in what they do.
- Running the Community Conservation Innovation Project. This project is developing partnerships to increase the effectiveness of conservation at a grass roots level with local councils, iwi, communities and government agencies.
