NZ company Sealord has signed WWF’s Tuna Conservation Pledge and is also a member of the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation, co-founded with WWF. These steps are clear moves in the right direction.

WWF and a large group of responsible buyers, harvesters, processors, and traders have made an important pledge to the Western Central Pacific Fisheries Commission that is responsible for managing Pacific tuna fisheries, to:
-     support well-planned and designed tuna fishery improvement and conservation initiatives to sustain livelihoods,
-    minimise environmental impacts
-    supply the world with responsibly-managed, high quality tuna through certification according to the MSC standards.
