Professor Anne Noble, photographer and 2009 Arts Foundation Laureate:
"Earth hour is an opportunity for us to reflect on how each of us in our daily lives can commit to small actions that collectively can make a big difference. Shorter showers, walking more, planting some fruit trees, turning the lawn into a vege garden, saving power, using less fuel.
"I heard someone on the radio saying that to address climate change, society needs to mobilise to defend the planet as if we were facing a world war. ¬ What an alarming thought. More alarming is that we can’t wait for governments and politicians to find the global solutions – they don’t seem able to. What we can do is act individually and locally to change our philosophies and our lifestyles with a mind for each others future. Earth Hour is asking us to consider how and to act."
